I am an artist and educator living in Brighton, on the south coast of England.
My early work specialised in time based and installation arts, often working with ephemeral materials and projections, creating very experiential works. These ideas of transience, suggestions of movement and change, still prevail in the 2D pieces I create today.
Working in mixed media, I enjoy juxtaposing experimental and unexpected surfaces with elements of control. Fluidity and stillness. Capturing emotive moments in time of connections with our environments. While I use a variety of materials and processes in each project my methodology is consistent. During experimentation and production of the work new areas of interest arise and lead to the next body of work.
SAM BECK
Fascinated by surface and mark making, my work explores these elements through natural, urban and figurative spaces. Examining the relationship between internal and external spaces.

I am showing work from my 'Unearthing' 'Rust' and 'Street Figures' series. Click below for more information on the gallery website.

The Gallery at Green & Stone

'Souls Passage' is currently showing as part of the 'Works on Paper' exhibition at The Gallery at Green & Stone.
"There is something uniquely revealing about working with paper. Unmediated by grand gesture or theatrical scale, they convey the artist's hand and intention with a clarity that is often lost elsewhere. It is precisely in this intimate arena that Green & Stone's latest exhibition, Works on Paper makes its mark.
Exhibition runs:
19 Jan 2026- 20 Feb 2026
The Gallery at Green & Stone
251-253 Fulham Road

'Morning Light'
Acrylic ink and paper collage on wood panel.
Size: 30x40cm (42x56cm framed)
'Morning Light' was selected and exhibited at The Mall Galleries, London, as part of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours annual exhibition.
This series of work explores the rhythmic changes of light walking through woodland on cold frosty mornings. Juxtaposing ideas of fluidity and stillness.

Harvest Moon
Mixed media
30x30cm
SOLD
Selected by Art Critic Paul Carey-Kent,
"Inspired by the sea-battered steel groynes on Southwick beach, the Brighton-based artist Samantha Beck draws with rust. Her title, ‘Harvest Moon’, doesn’t just operate visually, but takes us back to the tidal source – and, specifically, to the autumnal equinox, when the full moon rises above the horizon much faster than usual."
I was delighted that 'Harvest Moon' was selected for the ING Discerning eye 2024 exhibition at The Mall Galleries in London.
